What is the point of being salaried if you are de facto hourly?? |
DH was promoted to senior staff and his reward was unlimited leave and bonuses. I was thrilled we’d finally be able to travel. It didn’t happen. He never takes any time off because he’s too busy and feels like he will be forced out with the next round of layoffs if he takes time off. My sister is in big law and always tells me she has unlimited leave. But she works evenings and weekends and I’ve seen her spend hours a day on her laptop while on vacation. |
100% I get all my work done, basically everyone around me thinks I’m a workaholic. I am easily the highest producing person in my orbit. As long as I get all my work done, plus pitch in on a ton of other things, plus gradually get more responsibilities - why would anyone care? It’s if you flaunt it that you get in trouble. |
I have unlimited leave and am “senior staff”. As long as I am not inaccessible, I don’t even need to tell anyone. If I am inaccessible I need to tell my manager - who is too busy and important to care. |
So they can have you work more than 40 hours per week and not pay you more. |
