Amazon what?

When I return items to Amazon, I go to Whole Foods and use the drop box there. I love it because I don't have to bring anything but the item -- I scan my return QR code on my phone and then they provide me with a bag for the item and a label for it. It's very easy.

I have also gone to the Amazon center closest to me (still not that close, but the one in Hyattsville is not a terrible drive and can be combined with another errand) in situations where I really had no idea how to accomplish the return. Like once I had an unopened Amazon electronic device I'd been gifted but didn't want, and I found a program that would let me return it for cash, but had no idea how to do that so I just took it to the Amazon center. Worth it to get like $60 from Amazon for a gift I didn't even buy.

1 - I live in a city, so I need to be able to go to closest UPS location. 2 - I didn't get a QR return code option, that's why I posted here. I've done the QR code a few times now and "it's very easy," unless you are not offered the option. Then it's irrelevant.

But if you bought from a different seller through Amazon, you may need to print a label and box it according to instructions.

Thanks for this clarification. Guess there is no way to know how the return will work until you are in the space.

We can only speak with our wallets and it's going to take a lot of people

I changed the return to "pick up, label needed". I packed the items, enclosed the return scan code, and taped up the boxes. The door man is nervous because there is no label on the box, but Amazon doesn't offer an option to print the label. "Driver will provide."

Fingers crossed that this works!

Thanks for all the responses.

This. It’s still easy here. We just get the label and take it to Whole Foods. We do always keep the box until we decide we aren’t returning it. We don’t return constantly maybe 3-4 times a year tops.

I’m sure Amazon returns are insanely abused. We have a college aged daughter who buy something, ship it to an on campus locker and not bother to pick it up within 3 days so it gets automatically returned. She’ll end up ordering it again. No cost penalty to her but a lot of labor wasted. Drives me nuts.

Amazon could take measures to end this “abuse.” They could easily ban returns from customers who are supposedly abusing the return policy, or impose extra return fees on those customers.

Yet Amazon hasn’t done this. Guess why.

Ugh. I selected the home (apartment building in our case) pick up where we provide the box and UPS provides the label. And UPS showed up with no label. Ugh.

This sort of happened to me once. I ignored the word boxes and used bags, but I was tempted to put all 3 items in one bag with two of the labels inside, but instead I used 3 bags which was stupid. And to make it easy dumped them in a UPS drop box.

If you return to a Kohl's store, you don't need to print the label and don't need a box. They can scan the return code from your cell and they will take the item as is.

If you return to a UPS store, you have to have a box and they will seal and label the box.

If you return to an Amazon locker, you need to have a box, seal the box and attach a label to the box.

So, it definitely depends on where you plan to return it regarding what you'll need. If you want to return with no label and no box, then drop it off at Amazon counter in Kohl's.
