Top MCPS MS

Top are generally schools with higher income families. That doesn't mean best for your child.

Despite the shit storm that is the school, it’s Farquhar.

Look at the FARMS rate and the racial breakdown of the school and then look at the scores: it’s a minority majority school that is highly impacted and the kids find success

But then it’s also FMS and we almost had to close down the pta because not one of us wanted to be president

Pyle is also enormous. They should build another middle school and split the kids, as they did with Westland.

Unfortunately MCPS ruined the middle school magnets so I guess the “best” ones are the ones in the most wealthy areas or the ones with a good principal

TPMS - we had one kid at TPMS and another at a different middle school. TPMS is great - even the non magnet classes. Plus, the admin, school clubs, and community feel are all strong and impressive.

My children went to Hoover and it was great for both of them. Both felt safe and happy and liked their teachers and experience.

Not sure how I could possibly compare it to other middle schools, though.

OP why don't you look in Frederick County?

Pyle. Middle school years are tough but the teachers are engaged and the community is strong.

Parent of younger kids here. What do you mean by saying MCPS “ruined” the magnets?

I've experienced both MCPS and FCPS middle schools. Academically, MCPS is much better.

They changed from entry based on merit to entry based on lottery.
