I think digital marketing is a great idea! Lots of jobs in this field.

My advice would be to attend the best college possible by reputation, especially if majoring in art. You can always get an MBA after college. I may be wrong, but it strikes me that top business schools would be more likely to admit, if not eager to have someone for the MBA program who has a BFA from a school like RISD, than it is for RISD to accept someone with a business degree into its MFA program.

Agreed. I recommend taking a business course or two if not a minor, if DD goes this route

Would never pay for a "Art Degree" in College just because my DS loves to draw. That sounds like a hobby not a career.

Listen to those who are nicely telling you the same...

Brown RISD dual degree is smart and talented.

Got-dam right they need not just a business minor but a double major if they're studying art and want an actual got-dam job when they graduate.

That's a super reach, even for those smart and talented. A 2% acceptance rate.

My smart talented artsy kid chose CS & Media art combined major at Northeastern.

Consider Design & business administration combined major.

I have a very talented neighbor who majored in theatre and minored in accounting. She performs in live theatre. When a show closes and she is unemployed, she works for Accountemps. She purposely chooses short term jobs.

Consider a liberal arts college--won't have as intense fine arts requirements for the major, will be a BA not a BFA. Can focus energies across the curriculum. Many entry level jobs don't line up with particular majors--they just want you to be able to be a decent critical thinker/writer/researcher with a good work ethic. But the BFA sometimes doesn't have enough distribution requirements and advanced level courses outside studio to develop students as writers/researchers.
