Isn't it more common for kids score low in fall?

My kid has gone from percentile in 60s in fall to mid 90s at the end for a couple years now on math (and yes, I'm using the norms table correctly). Teacher says it's not uncommon and don't fret over fall scores.

I am curious about how those kids are doing in class. Are they learning, keeping up? Are they struggling or stressed or unhappy? Are they getting left behind or is the class slowing down for them?

No, Iready is fine, it's more the Lake Woebegone effect in how people perceive/overestimate what AAP represents. It's 20 percent of the kids in the county. Yes, there's still going to be some variety in scores or kids who don't do well on a particular test or test poorly in the fall, or kids who don't also do Kumon, or kids who are stronger on one particular area, etc etc etc

There a kids in AAP, who had low cogat and iready, but high HOPE got them in. One cant expect them to score mid or high 90 percentiles on iready.

But also, AAP is 20 percent of the county kids and no, 20 percent of the county, even a high SES county, is not always in the top 95th or higher percentile on every iready test. AAP is not a gifted program.

It's a slightly accelerated program for mostly bright, but normal, kids.

They aren’t struggling. Honestly, some of my kids who scored 99th percentile do worse in Spring because IREADY is a terrible test. It is good to figure out if kids need to be in Adv Math. But for kids who score in the 60s or higher the test is useless. At our school we look at kids scoring less than 40 percentile.

It's both. At some center schools, it seems to be more one, and at other center schools, more the other.

What happens if AAP center students consistently score in the lower percentiles 30-40s in fall, winter and spring in reading, math or both? do these students get intervention? do they exit AAP? Do they drop down to local AAP? is this atypical?

Where do you get Iready scores? My kid’s teacher always says his iready scores are “fine” and then we move on, so I have no ideas what they are or what percentile my child is in.

FWIW, he is in AAP.
