Development Options For U13 Kids Between Rec and Travel Level

I'm surprised, usually the big clubs have a travel team if you have the dollars and those teams, as pointed out, are really not much better skill wise than top rec teams.

Any recommendations around the Tysons area? Not sure where to even begin to find a quality coach without wasting a lot of time on potential duds.

Look on the ncsl site for teams within a reasonable distance in your childs age group in the lowest divisions. They will have kids quitting and open spots

NP - That's good advice. Folks who talk about talent being equal on Rec/Travel don't appreciate the fact that while that may be true for some kids, Rec play lacks any structure at all. DD would crush any Rec player and she's not stellar. Still playing Div I NCSL but it's not like she is a rock star. I get you OP. While DD doesn't want to go the mile and play top team at her club, she also cannot stomach playing Rec. She's just at a different level and has zero desire to play Rec. I don't have the answers because likely we would do the same and get out of Club and find something in between Rec/Travel. But there's nothing that I've seen at U13 for this anywhere close to us. I think that a lower level team in NCSL will at least still have some structure with an actual certified coach and not as much pressure.

Golden Boot is based in Tysons and has weekend training in McLean, I think.

You could try doing trainings with HP Elite in Chantilly as a way to build up skills. As others have said, smaller clubs in lower NCSL divisions may have room for your kid. There are so many clubs I never would have heard of if I only looked on DCUM.
