Mother’s Helper for Older Kids

The rates for providing short-term care like picking up from school/driving to activities are usually higher, because it has to be worth their while to work a so few hours. And there’s a lot of competition.

People use the term “mother’s helper” because they don’t want to pay a lot. They’re being really cheap. OP, what you were looking for is a babysitter and you will end up paying a premium for those specific hours that you’re looking for.

Just meet them? Or walk them home and stay with them a few hours?

DO NOT try to pawn this off on other parents in your neighborhood, like a pp suggested!

I am the pp who pays $15/hr for three kids for this and have never as trouble finding someone great. She doesn’t flake or cancel last minute either - none of the sitters have.

Just try it, OP. If you don’t need driving, it may well be easier to find someone than you think.

A mother’s helper helps with a parent at home. You need a babysitter. Very hard to find someone to do this every day for such a short amount of time.
