Burn down your savings, sure. Campuses have protests guidelines. GWU is private property. Campuses have codes of conduct. You are not entitled to be on private property and do whatever you want, however you want, and interfere with other people’s use and enjoyment of the campus. The rules and codes of conduct are all clearly stated. Violate them and you will face the clearly stated consequences. There are no surprises here. But sure, sue and burn your money.

+1 I don't think your son's views are extreme at all, OP.

Your son is now on the “FO” part of FAFO.

He is an adult and will now experience the adult consequences of his choices. Tell him he learned his stupid lesson, to take his medicine and move on.

This post sponsored by the American Bar Association.

Oh, which lesson are you going to teach him at this point? That mommy and daddy will make the consequences of his actions go away if they think their baby’s punishment is too mean? Or that in the future, he should carefully consider the possible outcomes of what he does? You’re at a crossroads. The lesson will linger.

I assume these are not your values, OP. I’d tell him that and express disappointment. Beyond that, he is experiencing logical consequences for illegal actions. If he thinks he was falsely accused, you can help him self-advocate, but sounds like he was part of the encampment.

If the school asked him to leave and he didn’t, it’s trespassing. People don’t get to pick and choose which rules to follow—a national issue that’s eroding America’s sense of community.

Encourage him to absorb this lesson now before larger consequences are at stake.

I support Israel.
Protesting genocide is not “extreme”.

You raised a good man. Up to you whether to support him now.

Why didn't these protesters walk the four blocks over to the White House or the State Department and protest there?

How’d he get that way? GW is very diverse and has a ton of foreign Arab students, mostly Muslim when I was there, who might be influencing him to more extreme positions

Why is protesting war an extreme position?

I don't think the original poster is going to get any advice beyond that already offered and we don't need another thread arguing about the protests. So I am going to lock this one.
