UNC. I was an instate alum, but had many OOS friends , and we trended hippie, not preppy. Also instate people are not that "southern" --- the top 50 kids from my large high school in Charlotte ended up there, many of us transplants from the north.

It's a wonderful place. Lots of people went off to grad school at Ivies, or to med or law school at UNC or elsewhere. Plenty of very smart people around.

Years ago ,I had a girlfriend who was a UNC alumni (recent grad) who took me to a pseudo-orgy sponsored by one of her student groups. Good times. Not sure if that's indicative of the entire university.

A woman is an alumna, not an “alumni”. SMH at the stupidity.

Lol. The drama students also had the occasional pseudo-orgy. Honestly the town has a very sexy vibe. Horny people. Maybe it's the weather. Good memories.

Nope. I went there, OOS and got a great education which is part of the reason I know the correct Latin.

Meant to say over 80% from NC

And a big chunk of that 80% is (top students) from Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill. Hardly the deepest parts of the South.

Yes, and within this group many of the current students are those whose parents are originally from all over the US (and world) who moved South in the past 10-15 years

Why?

you can't get in from OOS. I believe the true number is only 10% OOS from the USA because the 18 % figure includes international. This is quite a different practice thannUVA which is almost 30 percebt OOS
