Not everyone can afford Hardy, Deal & Wilson real estate friend. |
+1 I think this is the real crux of the matter. The absolute best of the bunch neighborhood schools in DC are equivalent to the "just fine I guess" schools in the suburbs. I'm a Blair parent, and the school has served my kids very well. Even the size has been an asset, but they've also had strong teachers and a very strong administration the whole time. You can still get a house in bounds for about $450,000, if you're willing to do a little bit of fixing up. But to get the same educational experience in DC, you would need more than a million. |
Not even close. And most people IRL make this move. |
Ok good point. But if she moved from the deal Wilson district to Blair just for the schools that was not wise. |
Most people coming to MoCo from DC for the schools are not coming from WOTP schools. |
Hmmm not necessarily. She could get a comparable high school experience in an area where single family homes are potentially much cheaper. I agree this move wouldn’t make sense exclusively for the schools but there are many scenarios where this would be a smart move. Blair also has some incredible application programs. |
Blair is an excellent school within and outside the programs |
| It’s also a much better school than Jackson Reed and I have experience with both. |
It was a wise choice. The 2 schools aren't comparable, no matter how delusional some DC parents are. |
