The second math module was insanely hard as many of your kids have told you. I got an 800 on College Board's Digital Practice Test 5 and a 790 on Practice Test 6. I had to guess on about 3 towards the end too!!!

Do you think 2 of the 3 questions were experimental? I read that 2 questions in each module are experimental.

My kid is very strong in math and Desmos. He got a perfect score on math on PSAT.

Not surprised he got the harder math module 2 but he said it was insanely hard - he wasn’t able to answer the final few free response questions, ran out of time.

Otherwise he felt good about the rest of the test

YES! This is my daughter. She is great at math, perfect math PSAT, ran out of time before the final 3 free response questions. Left them blank.
We are wondering (hoping) that 1 (or 2!) of them were experimental problems that will be thrown out.

She's considering going straight to the end of the test in June to see if she can complete the final free response questions (assuming they will also be at the end of that test) because if she finds herself running out of time with the multiple choice she can at least make educated guesses.

I posted in another thread about what people are using to study for this thing (she needs practice problems at that level). Apparently the College Board uploaded harder practice tests? It's frustrating because these final math problems don't mirror anything in the realm of published practice problems.

Oh, this isn't good. The difficulty of those tests was supposed to be adjusted upward to be as hard as the actual tests (per a podcast I listened to).

Do you think they were among the experimental questions?

My DC thought math was harder than the March test and English was easier.

how much do colleges weigh in on the formation of these? i wonder if mit and cmu and such wanted math harder do they can weed out the truly gifted 800s

My DS took the test at a Fairfax County Public School that wouldn't allow use of personal laptops and did NOT check IDs/tickets. Just asked for names and checked their list.

I am surprised at how hard my DC says math was (she took the march test) She said it definitely went past Alg 2, which is where I thought it was supposed to stop?

It seems like digital SAT is very unpredictable to study for, compared to paper, less track record. My child had a perfect math on the digital PSAT and on the real one did much worse in math, and better in English. It feel random.

My child took two paper tests prior and said the math was much more difficult on the digital. This is disappointing.

Yes, hopefully colleges will take into account the test dates for this 2025 class. It does seem like math scores are way down with the digital version.

So, I told him to take it one more time and that he would be done. He took it this past weekend (May). He said it was pretty much the same. So, I would surmise that he got the harder math section again and he likely saw some questions that he couldn't answer or finish.

what did he get for math on the psat in october and what did her get on the SAT in the March one? this is scary!

Oct: I believe he got 760 on the PSAT math in Oct. (I think that was the max).

Mar: 650 on the math March SAT. (740 on Verbal).

Don't know yet what he'll get on the May test. It's fine whatever it is b/c he's planning to go to GMU. I know his scores are more than enough. I just wanted him to do it twice to make sure he did the best he could do. He isn't into prepping for PSAT or SAT.

Thats very strange to hear. DC found the test quite straight forward. Nothing beyond what was covered in Khan Academy. He is quite sure he got the “harder” module on part 2.

According to a podcast episode recommended here, the scores from March were comparable to the December paper version.

folks should realize that these are standardized tests. There is NO WAY one test is harder than the other.

My DC used Khan Academy to prep too -- took digital in March and got a 750 on Math but "only" 690 on Verbal. Was surprised bc they lean more verbal than math IRL and thought the Math was really hard (but finished).

Took the May Digital also -- hoping to bring up Verbal and super score closer to 1500. Thought they were both pretty hard in May.
