Car Stolen - Need Positive Vibes

once its out of your hands, you don't want it back. pray that it never gets found until after you get your check from the insurance company.

sucks that your going to be out the 1000 bucks plus any deductible. you'll get just barely what its worth....

the biggest PITA is having to deal with credit cards, new drivers lic, etc. And lets not forget the joy of having to go car shopping essentially under duress.

good luck OP....

Oh shut up.

Republicans are unamerican morons fact.

Hell Red states can not stand without blue states.

Almost every single Republican president has raised the National Debt and a Dem has to come in and fix that.

Your math skills and cognitive reading skills suck.

Anonymous wrote:It was not stolen. Ironically near me we had a Dunkin’ Donuts right by house and moms and dads in winter would drive a block to it leave car running and pip in to grab pre-ordered coffee.

Crooks say in parking lot and would jump in and take cars. They caught a few and pretty much got a slap on wrist.

Turns out they could only be charged possession of stolen property. They could not be charged with breaking and entering or even car theft. Technically they did not steal the car the owners left doors unlocked with key available.

Kinda like someone walks in open front door is trespassing vs. breaking and entry into house.

So your car was not stolen, well legally

You're full of s%^t. You do not have to 'break in' to property to get charged.

I'm too lazy to find a better source, but: "Even though many believe that “breaking and entering” may mean only breaking a window or breaking down a door, the fact remains that any type of physical force exerted against a home, business, storage locker or any secure structure—even pushing open an unlocked door—can produce breaking and entering charges. “B & E” is the lowest level of burglary crime (often a gateway offense) that can keep a suspect in jail while the property owner inventories his or her properties and possessions. If items are missing, a burglary charge is likely to be added."

Except you have to be able to prosecute. In the case my old town they did catch some of thieves and charged then possession of stolen property in the plea deal.

And public defender an unlocked car with keys in ignition. Good luck with anything beyond that.

My friend caught a guy about to steal his car. He already was sitting in car about to do his thing. My friend chased him, he dropped his auto stealing stuff and as luck would have it a cop saw them caught up to guy.

The story he told cop I was walking and cold and tired I saw an unlocked car and sat in it. This man started yelling at me and scared and ran off.

The tools to steal car he dropped his accomplice must have picked up. Cop said usual another person.

So friend tells arrest him. Cop goes on what? Attempted car theft is not car theft. I could charge him trespassing but that is a ticket at best or a warning.

Really? Durning the 20+ years that I've lived here, we've never had a car stolen in our suburban neighborhood. I would guess that a lot of posters could say the same thing

I live in 22207, and I have 4 friends who have had their cars stolen. All left the keys in the car of our "safe neighborhood"

OP here. Car was found! It’s in the same condition I left it in except the tags were off. Two men were arrested for armed robbery and my license was found on them. They were on the hook for some other armed assaults and it sounds like they followed me then dumped my car when they realized nothing valuable was in it. Who knows what the story is - maybe it’s all just pure dumb luck that I didn’t get caught at a stop sign or red light or that I left my keys in the bag and didn’t have to interact with them. It sounds like I missed an interaction with some bad guys. Thanks for all the kind comments, I’m feeling very lucky tonight.

have the police do a thorough search of the car to look for any contraband. so you don't get stuck with it...
