ISO - backpack recommendation for kindergartener

LLBean. My sons have both used them throughout ES (the older one for six years), and for middle school we upgraded to a larger pack.

They get new lunchboxes when necessary, but I don't have any interest in buying them a new backpack every year if I can avoid it.

My son just picked out a very loud, colorful "3-D" Toy Story backpack from Target. Is that okay for K?

PP, if it makes him excited for school, I think it's perfect!

Ditto this. My kids could care less about getting a new backpack every year. These LL Bean ones have really held up great! Don't get a pack that is too small - although kindergarteners don't have lots of books to carry, they do have to carry standard sized paper, project, workbooks, lunch boxes, etc.
