Does anyone have insight into waitlist movement? I didn't think we had even a distant shot because we had a lottery number in the 90s. But it is now down to 39.

Are they not taking all comers?

My kid is currently 150+ on the waitlist. So, not taking all comers just yet.

We were originally in the 50s on results day. Earlier this week, the number dropped down to the 20s, and we got called off the waitlist today. We have until the end of next week to decide.

Majority of students at McA are out of boundary. So this cannot be true.

OP, that is laughable. So laughable, I wonder if it’s Principal McCray? Who is, by the way, very overrated. The school has a long long looooong way to go. You heard it here first.

New poster here - can you please share what makes Principal McCray overrated? We’ll be making the decision on MacArthur next year.

McCray? The guy with a Ph.D. From an online university?

But with Walls’ new admission “criteria”, families who wanted Walls and didn’t get in, or those who didn’t try for want a small school and don’t care as much about sports, are breaking for MacArthur. The Principal is dynamite and is poaching talent from other HS and MS. In 2 years it will be the top HS in DCPS.

He’s not overrated. I was on the selection committee that chose him. New poster here. My kid is supposed to go to MacArthur in two years and I’m very optimistic. He’s just a terrific leader, brilliant and dynamic. He wanted to be the mayor of Philadelphia and then got into education. Many people and higher ad, including at the college level have degrees from places you’ve never heard of. It’s really expensive to go to graduate school. Some people can’t afford it. And if you know anyone who has a PhD, you know most of the learning comes from doing not sitting in a classroom. So online university doesn’t phase me. But we shall see. I have faith in the promise of a small neighborhood high school in ward 3. I have faith in his leadership ability.

Most of the OOB lottery came from JR feeder FYI.

If it's the new Walls, why is it making so many lottery offers?

It’s pretty obvious that people are not going or taking the spot so the waitlist is moving a lot.

They have a lot of OOB kids.
