Birth rate plummets

Women wanting a career more than a family.
Young people not wanting to marry let alone start a family.
Young people more interested in social media than actual human contact.
Egocentricity - more concerned with one's own needs and not wanting to worry about the needs of another.
The economy and unwillingness to sacrifice luxuries for the benefit of another.

The world does not need more humans. Having a baby is selfish and done to fulfill one's self. You are not making some grand sacrifice for the world, this is about you and yours.

Even in heavily socialized countries it's the same. This is not just a US trend.

I don’t have a farm to work. I don’t have a need for a bunch of kids.
Most people don’t.
When I was born, the earth had 3 billion people
We’re at 8 billion now.
The earth just doesn’t need that many humans.

It’s not just cost. Women are choosing not to give up oppurtunities they could lose in the typical childbirth years of 25-35.

If everyone stopped having babies, humans would cease to exist. Seems that is what you want.
Despite your beliefs, having children is a sacrifice. It is also a blessing and an experience so rewarding that those who choose to not have children will never experience.

Considering how badly we're screwing our planet up, this would be a feature, not a bug.

That's your take, many people believe otherwise. Raising children is hard and definitely a sacrifice, but make no mistake, you are doing that sacrifice only for you, not because the world needs more humans.

You don't have to physically give birth in order to experience the joy of children (or to help in supporting them). There is more than one way to support future generations (aside from direct parenting). It's really not a good idea to have children if you don't want them.

Did you birth any children, yourself?

Parenting is an experience that some people would like to have and other people would not. No judgment either way.

The more education a woman has, the less likely she will have many children. Countries with the highest birth rates are in Africa.

NP. I've birthed two and it's definitely the most selfish thing I have ever done. They made me focused on my home and family and took me away from other pursuits I had had that had a positive impact on the world. They're my little pet project, not a gift to humanity.

We're importing around 3 million immigrants a year to the U.S., so they will help us out with our low birthrate issues so that we don't have a declining population.
