I guess we're going to stay in the A/C all summer.

Which will only exacerbate the cycle and make it hotter in the future.

Although by then I'll probably be dead, so who cares. AC it is.

And it never seems any different than the summer before it.

Who flippin cares anymore?

Every summer usually IS the hottest summer on record lately.

Look up “urban heat island effect”.

Things really aren’t getting hotter to the extent portrayed.

The urban heat island effect explains why cities are hotter than surrounding areas, not why the overall region's summers are getting hotter. D.C. isn't that much more urban now than it was 10 years ago.

They can't even "predict" rain as it's happening these days.

"D.C. isn't that much more urban now than it was 10 years ago."

I totally disagree.

They weren't so accurate about our winter snow falls where they?

I'm spending a month in Chicago (well, suburbs just west of the city) with family. Partly because I hate hate hate the summers in DC and wanted slightly cooler for my own mental well-being.

High of 95 today. 94 tomorrow and Wednesday. We dip down to 88 on Thursday, then it's back up to 91 on Friday and 93 on Saturday.

Ugh.

I'm not sure how anyone can say this weather of July 2024 is normal. I just can't.

I mean dry heat is one thing but the humidity adds to the misery and combined, no we don't see this kind of heat typically. Look up the stats.

Next yr will prob be hotter. At this rate, in 5 years how's life gonna be?

Yawn. We enjoyed the hot weather this summer as the pool water was more comfortable!
