Just reviving this since I finished the series recently. I enjoyed it although it dragged in the middle. The series does not break the top ten most viewed non-English shows on Netflix. But it broke Neilsen viewership record for tvN, which surpassed Crash Landing on You for this record. I think QoT is extremely popular throughout Asia and has skyrocketed the popularity of Kim Ji Won (female lead). The male lead, Kim Soo Hyun had already been super popular.

I cannot find anything that remotely compares to CLOY. Queen of Tears did not do it for me. Mostly because there was nothing likable about the female lead.

Did you watch My Love from Another Star or Descendants of the Sun? I watched all of QoT and was entertained but didn't find the female lead relatable and did not understand why the male lead would have fallen in love with her in the first place. The two villains were also one-dimensional and I rooted for the secondary couple more than the primary one. The best series I enjoyed watching recently was Alchemy of Souls and the cdrama The Double.
