My neighbor uses that one and I hate it. Not sure why they use it.

And where does carbon come from? Carbon black is a by-product of burning fossil fuels...it's essentially soot. Which I would not want applied to my yard.

You realize that your body is carbon-based, right?

Sounds like you need a property with a bigger yard if this occupies enough of your angst to bring up feelings of hatred.

I suspect that it’s getting more popular because it IS Colored garbage that is cheap and the landscapers are pushing it hard.

OP here. I wish that contractors would take the time to get to know the clients. If you perceive that the client is knowledgeable or has high standards, either move on or ask for more money to do a better job. I would have paid more for a better natural looking mulch. I’ll have this removed in the fall and new mulch put down then.

They ... usually use wood. Like, as in trees.

You live and you learn. A small potatoes thing to be worked up about. Next year tell your contractors about your mulch preferences when you are hiring them.

Everyone with a decent house in my neighborhood does black mulch.

I hope you're correct and the plants are OK.

Dyed mulch does not look natural. To me decent houses are easy on the eye, more natural.

Lots of people have natural weeds and unmowed grass but they’re not easy on the eyes.
