HDL over 100. Anyone else?

Anonymous
Found this searching for info after getting my latest lipid results. My most recent HDL was 100. LDL is low 80s, and total cholesterol is high end of normal range. My HDL has always been high, like 75, but this seems excessive. I eat very healthily but could probably stand to cut back on alcohol a bit, which I plan to do. I've also been through menopause fairly recently. There honestly doesn't seem to be much information out there about high HDL, though high numbers seem to be more problematic in men than women.

Yes, also have over 100 HDL but normal LDL and low triglycerides. Doctors not worried.

I don’t have high HDL but that’s because I don’t eat meat, only rarely eat eggs (3-5x/year), and don’t drink any alcohol at all.

I’d try an elimination diet for a few months before consenting to more invasive testing or medication, but that’s just me. No medication is without side effects and risks.

I'm in the high HDL club, and my internist also says don't worry. I do but so far no heart issues.

There may be genetic link to high HDL, and it may present in different ways. The bad news - it may be associated with higher rates of dementia.
