I do have some Caribbean pieces and I think that color has been around for a while, but the blue that I think is one of their core ‘never retire’ colors is Marseille - it’s a deeper blue, very pretty. |
Cooking is central to getting a good life, poster - and having excellent cookware elevates the experience from drudgery to pleasure. Le Creuset is the best performing cookware going, and the colors make it far more pleasing to the human brain than stainless steel or dark cast iron. I’m fair sure that any functional MRI results would prove that assertion. |
| They discontinued Teal last year and I got a Dutch oven for like 75% off. There might still be some left if you look. |
|
I have a collection of greens and blues. I like a lot of the colors, so I went with a complementary collection instead of all one color. I frequently use them together and I think they look nice. I have Agave, Sea Salt, and Artichaut. Also a couple of Staub pieces in similar shades.
If you want to go with a matching set, I’d suggest one of the very core colors - Marseille is a nice blue. |
| There will always be availability on ebay and other restocking / thrift outlets. I wouldn't worry too much. |
| Side question. Thinking of getting an induction stove. Does le creuset work on that? Don’t want to have to replace all our pots! |
Yes, they work on induction. |
|
While we’re talking Le Creuset ( I have deep heartfelt regard for my Dutch oven), does anyone have experience with any of its myriad impostors? Most of mine were purchased 25 years ago and I am guessing that there are now some lower priced contenders available. |
I think americas test kitchen did a test on them, maybe see if available somewhere (paywall website). |
+1 it’s all I buy. New or used. |
I’ve had a sur la table brand dutch oven for almost 20 yrs and it is going strong. It looks like Le Creuset but was much cheaper (I realize by now the Creuset would have paid for itself, but I was a young professional when I bought it and could only stomach the price of the Sur brand, and it’s worked out grand). |
+1, it works. And to test any of your other pots, hold a magnet to the bottom of the pot. If the magnet sticks, the pot will work on an induction stove. |
I got an Amazon one. In spite of its high ratings it is not great at all. Super clunky and chips at the drop of a hat. |
Not their "personal style" lol. |
Yes, and what about it? I’m not one of the PPs you are referring to, but Cerise and Flame aren’t my personal style either. I like cool tones much better. That’s totally fine, and luckily LC recognizes that people have different preferences so they make all kinds of colors. |
