For all of you bitter/obnoxious DMV parents

I find it alarming that it would take three graduating classes from a Big 3 to have similar numbers to ONE of their graduating classes. This must be the Harvard Westlake of NY!

Riverdale costs approx $63,000 per year for HS.

It is a fantastic place.

And if you live in NYC with money to burn absolutely a good choice.

I have a home in NYC, not our primary.
My friends who send their children to Riverdale would be appaulled at your gauche posting.

Most people can not afford $63,000 a year OP.

And honestly, it's stupid financially. This is why I will have money for generations and you will not.

By the way many publics beat your school in college admissions, for free.

Cornell was a joke at my competitive public magnet back in the 2010s. HYPSM would take 1-2 per class of ~100, Cornell would take like 15-20. Not sure if this still works, but the trick used to be to fake an interest in hospitality, get into their hotel school, and then transfer into a different program.

Based on the data I’ve seen from three posts up, what public schools are beating this school in admissions? I would like to know to send my DS there.

Right? I just took a look. I count 329 going to Ivies or Ivy+ like Stanford.

That is nuts.

Not only does it eclipse any public school, including the magnets, it puts the Big 3/5 to shame. It's clear there's no private school in the DMV that even remotely competes.

How big is their graduating class? That's huge for a private.

For that kind of money, it should do better than a public.

Parents have a sh!t ton of cash, connections, etc. Kids have been going to expensive activities, getting expensive tutoring.

What’s the theme here? Expensive.

Why wouldn’t they do this well?

And no, pointing out the obvious does not make someone bitter or jealous.

The data is from 2018-2023 graduating classes

those are basically colleges that take legacy into considerations - kids probably smart, but legacy put them over the top.

i don't see MIT there
