The kid is 12. They have limited life experience and knowledge of area nonprofits. The parent is helping to give some ideas about partnerships the child could pursue. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this and does not mean it's not "child led". I say this as both a middle school teacher and Girl Scout leader.

It sounds like the child has the ideas and would do the legwork but needs help finding an organization to partner with


It sounds like the child has an idea. It may be a good idea or it may not be. Maybe it will be a fit for one of the organizations mentioned. Or, maybe this is a lesson for the child that nonprofits are busy and have missions and the best way to help them is not always to suggest a new program but to help in the ways the organization has already identified. That's not a knock on the child... it's an important lesson and many adults don't know it either!
