I have always been very suspicious of chiropractors, but am starting to get desperate enough to try one soon… |

For people skeptical of chiropractors, I suggest finding a certified PT who also has a certificate in chiropractic adjustment. I was extremely suspicious of chiropractors until I wound up PT for sciatica and lower back pain that they could not seem to diagnose beyond the fact that I have very compact anatomy so my hip bones may cause nerve pain due to insufficient room.
My PT suggested doing a few chiropractic adjustments to facilitate what we were doing in PT and at first I said no but when he explained more clearly what he was going to do, it made sense based on what the ortho had identified. And it really helped. I think my alignment issues were related to a prior pregnancy and no amount of regular PT was going to shift things back into place. The adjustments helped enormously and I'd do it again if I had the same issue. But it really helped me to be working with a PT who had access to my scans and had consulted with my orthopedist, rather than a chiropractor I saw on my own. It made me less nervous about them doing something to make it worse because it was clear they understood the issue well. |
