I cleaned out my dryer vent for the first time in 5 years

Mine gets clogged ridiculously fast. I clean it from the inside and the outside.

We had ours cleaned after 5 years in our home and you have to be sure they clean the dryer end, the length, and the external end on the outside of the home. Ours had so much- and it was DENSELY packed. The previous owner cleaned it yearly. If you have never cleaned it and didn't see that- I'd be worried they didn't actually do the whole run.

Can someone recommend someone who can do this for me in the DMV area?
My dryer emits a funky (mildewy) smell after finishing.

No reccs, but is your vent on the roof and possibly uncovered? I’m currently battling with my condo board for roof access to get that fixed bc the cover blew off the vent, so now whenever it rains, water goes down the dryer hose. This makes drying take foreverrrrr and it constantly has a mildew smell at the end

I used Normen's last year and they were great. The price was good, and I noticed a huge improvement in how quickly my dryer dries clothing.

Small family-run business, not a big chain.

We do ours annually because we do 1-2 loads of laundry a day (kids), and we have a long run from our dryer to the outside vent, about 20 feet.

Dryer vent fires are one of the top causes of fire in newer builds, I think because some of the other causes are less likely with more recent building code changes.
