A girl band very much past their heyday reunites in hopes of a comeback. Kind of a 30 rock meets Spice Girls meets Now and Then, but with funny songs.

I am a fan!

Ok - I'm the OP asking for the synopsis. I watched the first three episodes of season 1, and really love it (as I do with all of Tina Fey things). I even watched the credits to listen to the full songs (New York Lonely Boy was amazing). Thanks - glad I have so much good content to get through. The lack of comedies these days is really sad!

I am OP of this thread and I am so happy you like it! New York Lonely Boy is a great song - I'll tell you, I love BPE too and a lot of the other songs.

But also I love comedies! I can recommend some more if you tell me what other shows you like.

I love this show so much.

Other quirky comedies I have liked are:

Working Moms
My Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt
Rita

Thanks!! I loved 30 Rock and Kimmy Schmidt (obvs), Brooklyn 99, Cougar Town (another sleeper - definitely worth watching!), Schitt's Creek... give me some more

You are my TV sister watcher, my friend - I'm going to assume you've already seen Parks and Rec, Superstore, and New Girl:

Life in Pieces

Ghosts - the US and UK versions - UK is funnier and a little meaner, US is more like a warm hug, I really like them both

Rutherford Falls - this is NOT a perfect show by any means but I liked it so much and maybe if enough people start watching Netflix will pluck it from the grave

and if you like Rutherford Falls even a little, the high class version is Reservation Dogs - a much more prestige half hour show about life on a reservation with some truly wonderful characters, and a lot of crossover actors between the two RF shows

Resident Alien - an hour long show - so warm, funny, weird, fantastic - it's in its third season now and I am just hoping this won't be the last!)

Not Dead Yet - this one is on now and I don't think anyone is watching - the Big Idea is it's a newspaper obituary writer who starts seeing the ghosts of the people she's writing about, but really it's just a warm and cozy workplace comedy starring Jane from Jane the Virgin, with Cece from New Girl, and Dina from Superstore

I could go on...

^ My brain is mush today! There aren't two RF shows, one is RF and one is RD

I second Resident Alien. It took a little bit to realize how funny it is, but for me and DH it is a laugh out loud show.

Here are a few recommendations that may be slightly off the beaten track:

Kevin Can F*** Himself - this one is kind of dark, stars Annie Murphy (Alexis from Schitts Creek) and is 1/2 sitcom, 1/2 a much darker/more insightful show. The premise is that half of it *is* a sitcom, complete with laugh track, but the camera follows Annie Murphy when she goes off screen. I've only seen the first season, but there is another season out now. (AMC)

God, The Devil, and Bob
Animated show about an autoworker who is chosen by the devil to prove mankind's worth. It is weird, and thoughtful, and very funny. bonus: Alan Cumming as the voice of the devil! All of the episodes are free on You Tube.

Maggie
A young woman who is psychic can see everyone's future but her own, friendship and romance plotlines.
(hulu)

Superstore (was this mentioned already?)
It took me a long time to try this show, I don't really know why. It's the kind of show that builds and builds, with lots of the background characters coming into their own as the seasons go on. It hits a bit of a lull in the last season but if you get that far I recommend you keep going. It has my most favorite finale of any show, ever. (Hulu)

Dead To Me
Another dark horse, emphasis on dark, but I love this show so much--Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini are both comic geniuses.
"A hotheaded widow searching for the hit-and-run driver who mowed down her husband befriends an eccentric optimist who isn't quite what she seems." (netflix)

Teenage Bounty Hunters
Sadly, just one season--twins at a conservative Christan high school become bounty hunters (long story) and do some investigating about happenings in their town and their own family tree.
(Netflix)

The Other Two
The siblings of a teen pop sensation (think Justin Bieber) basically grapple with his fame and their lack of success in life. This a Lorne Michaels produced show.

Enjoying this show!
Last one I saw gave a great insight into Wickie's hard scrabble upbringing. Bless her heart.

I love Wickie buying her Mom a house and her Dad being ā€œnot in the pictureā€, I was like I’ve never seen a rancher in Clarksville… and then …. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
