It was locked because a few posters kept going off-topic arguing about pensions. I don't know why Jeff didn't just delete those posts instead of locking the thread.

Subject line was also fake news.

No, it was locked because the whole thread was just gossip.

Lack of consequences, endless surveys, and “communication” that is just spin or obvious lies needs to be fixed pronto!

They need to step up and stop the blame game.

Yes, they're really just saying they don't want to be bothered. It isn't that their hands are tied. They're free to address these issues but prefer not to.

Huh? The news report in this thread confirms that there were a large number of fights on that Friday as the topic title indicated. What are you talking about?

So admin is lying and Chris Cram is telling the truth then. Yikes.

That not what the subject line says.

Uh....I think that what you're calling the "subject line" is in fact the first post in that thread, which claims, according to Moderately MoCo's tweet, that Clarksburg can't suspend kids cause their suspension rate is too high?

You're using the wrong term, hence the confusion.

Is it really that schools can’t suspend anyone or that they are being instructed to follow the 5 levels and in doing so choose the most appropriate discipline and supports as opposed to just relying on suspension?

I do know that schools are facing Social Emotional challenges post pandemic and as such are working to teach students how to handle themselves and conflict. Which is why they keep saying they need parental and community support. And from being in some schools what I can see is if schools didn’t engage in this teaching/learning they’d be suspending kids all day everyday.

Google the MCPS Student Code of Conduct and skim through to the charts that list the infraction and levels of response. It takes a lot of attempts before you come close to suspension.

The subject said there was a massive brawl.

That’s incorrect.

There were a few separate fights.

They can and do still suspend kids, but it has to be really egregious and/or after many many failed attempts at RJ.

Meanwhile, the rest of the kids and staff have to suffer.

You mean expulsion.

Its clear from the chart you can be suspended for many things like being disrespectful, cutting class, inappropriate use of technology, etc.

This is not a Covid issue. It was happening before.
