Occidental is not a natural school to compare. Not bashing Occidental as it’s a great school for the right kind of kid.

Can anyone else compare LMU, USD, and SCU? DC admitted to all 3 - received best merit from USD, then SCU, then LMU. Has visited LMU and SCU but not USD yet. Just wondering about their strengths and any other insight into them.

SCU - best engineering of the three, deep connections with Silicon Valley, good connections with law school, well-established first gen programs (long before these became popular; SCU has a very long history of helping first gen kids), probably the most rigorous of the three. Campus is nice but in a boring and expensive area.

LMU - best entertainment industry connections, excellent LA business connections, has lots of connections with USC, probably the wealthiest student body. Good solid liberal arts education. Kids tend to be physically active and athletic. Beautiful campus. Best school spirit of the three.

USD - obviously the best for San Diego business but not as well-connected in the rest of California. Gorgeous campus with perfect weather, but student body is probably less sporty overall than LMU. Solid education. Probably the friendliest place of the three. Warm educators that focus on individuals.
