In a private pool with 400 families, how many might get off the wait-list each year?

A decent chance this year but next year would be the year to count on.

agree with this- a neighborhood swimming pool is a great place to develop relationships and you will get more out of it if you 'jump in' with both feet. Join the team, go to socials, if you are struggling with small talk, etc- volunteer. Pools are always looking for volunteers, and there are a lot of small jobs. e.g show up for the preseason clean up day. Offer to help with a social event, etc. You meet so many more people that way.

Also, if you happen to have a really fast swimmer and the pool is a top team in the NVSL, sometimes you miraculously move up the waitlist.
