We live in VA and both UVA and W&M not being direct admits is a huge drawback. Both are very competitive admits and have known lots of kids wanting to major in business who didn’t get in. UVA moved their admit to sophomore year, perhaps in response to kids and parents complaining.

Yes, if Wharton is doing it, why can't others follow? Even other top public universities such as University of Michigan (Ross), which enrolls 80% of its BBA class through its Preferred (i.e. Direct) Admission program.
