Playing on phone or making an origami monkey. What’s the difference?

Plausible deniability. If you'r on your phone maybe you're taking notes. An origami monkey is just s visible FU

Help desk. If no one has issues, you’ve got nothing to do. Then everyone always has problems all at once.

A lot of emergency personnel have this situation. Sitting around waiting for calls to come in.
I’m working a 12 today and currently I’m doing online CEU’s, I can pause them if need be to do “ real work” . I’ll be watching Netflix later, I would be allowed to make an Origami monkey if I wanted to though, because my higher ups aren’t jerks.

My coworker knits.

You boss is being petty.

Sorry but it’s unprofessional to do crafts at work. It just is. Try journaling, walking laps or listening to podcasts.

It’s not necessarily pettiness. If customers or partners come by it looks ridiculous if someone is making paper animals in plain sight.

So ask your boss the same question.

Sounds like a call center

Are you serious? You can’t see the difference?

Unless your phone screen is visible, someone may assume that you are doing something work-related on your phone, maybe replying to an email, etc. At least you could pretend.

Making an origami monkey is 100% obvious that you aren’t doing anything work-related and you don’t care if people see it.
