SAT, ACT, how much to keep trying?

Forget the ACT. Just focus on SAT. See how she does and prepare to take it one more time.

That she absolutely refuses to do. DH was an SAT tutor for Math so he is doing it with her. She is very strong on the reading part and yes, studied all the strategies.

If her first ACT was 30, I’d focus on studying for that.

May I ask which company you used? A bit overwhelmed by the options.

Yes, I guess this is what I am asking! I know some kids try and try and try. She was so prepared this time. It is going to be disheartening if she doesn't improve her score or barely does after so many hours of studying. So do we just roll with the 30, or keep trying ACT? Is it better to do ACT with essay instead of with no essay?

If it’s going up each time, keep taking it over. Pick one (prob ACT?)
My kid took it 4 times.

Wait to see the score. If needed, test again in August or October. Many seniors end up scoring a bit higher in one or both sections after another six months of academic experience.

It’s not weird if your school doesn’t give the SAT in school. Ours doesn’t. We were under the impression everyone had to schedule through College Board and take it on a Saturday morning. It’s actually surprising that some kids can take it at their home school on a weekday.
