Huh? I know lots of white Americans living in their 90s. Not unusual. |
haha this. I love this idea that middle class white ladies have that only poor americans eat 'processed' foods. |
both my grandmas and dh's grandma lived into mid to late 90s and had wildly varying diets and lifestyles. Not a one would fit into any remote category that a person now would consider to be 'blue zone' or even really very healthy. One of them did eat a lot of whole grains and was health conscious and kept her weight down for sure, and walked a lot (but also enjoyed a lot of cocktails). The other two had fewer cocktails but hardcore midwestern diet. |
oh and sorry the point was - all white. lots of ladies across races live for a long time. but quality not quantity is important. I am mid 40s and building out instructions now for dh on when i want MAID and it's pretty wide ranging. |
100% this. I will add sunscreen, strong community/friendships, and good access to medical care. |
My mom’s white and is 98. Her great great grandmother who was white to 110. Not unusual. |
My grandma credits doses of snake venom in China when she was younger. At 101, she is mobile, and has some memory loss but not Alzheimer’s. No heart disease or diabetes. No smoking but she had a little wine once in a while. She was also not obese. She walked and did Tai chi in her younger days. |
It’s actually very unusual. Haven’t you seen statistics on average age of death? |
HOme-cooked meals does not mean healthy if they are deep frying everything, right? Tons of white rice too. And many are over-weight. maybe they dump on their kids too much and expect them to pick up the pieces so they live longer |
Hey brittany---this convo is for the rekhas and priyas. curry on outta here |

I need to get some of this snake venom! ![]() I don't actually want a long life if I have dementia. I want to stave off dementia and alzheimers. I hope I will be cognizant enough to see it coming. |
Just spit out my water |
