Long runs

What works for me when I’m bored running is to alternative 30 breaths at a full on pace and then 30 breaths at a slow recovery. Why 30? Why not a timed interval? Not sure but that is what works for me.

I have never run with music or podcast but I could see myself enjoying that too.

Earlier poster that was referring to treadmill running, music, and out and backs. I’m out of town and ran at a high school track yesterday. Forgot my watch music wasn’t working. Freezing out (with a recently broken hand) and no gloves! Still a good workout off my bike for me (did this inside) and sometimes I go without music since I won’t have it at events. Variation is the spice of life!

Echoing others so I won't repeat, but wanted to add that perhaps running with a friend or a running group (via the local running store like PR running, for example) may help. Try it 1x ir 2x and see how it goes (?).

No need to feel obligated to talk to said running friend/group while running (that's too hard to do anyway), but having a pace-setter and being with somebody helps with accountability and the will to keep going especially when you want to stop or cut out early, etc.

I am running my long run with a friend today. Will try it out.
