| Yes of course! |
| Don’t send the big dog with her. There’s probably more danger from that than from anything else. |
|
Yes, I would be fine with this. But my 6 yo is ultra responsible and would come and tell me if something happened that was a problem. I also personally don't worry about abduction in my yard.
We have some walkie talkies I've used in similar situations so that I can check in on her when I need to if I'm sick in bed and my spouse isn't home. That way she can tell me if she needs something and I can check in with her without having to get up. |

Not letting 6 year old out alone in a fenced-in yard in the 'burbs is insane. It is madness incarnate. What has the world come to that you even have to ask?
Anyway, I hope you feel better. |
|
Yes, definitely.
To make you feel better, install some outside cameras, so you can see him. |
| In the back yard? Yes. |
| Of course! I do all the time. Have done so since well before 6. |
Oh my gosh no, just let the kids outside. They are fine!!!! This idea that kids need close adult supervision/someone to have eyes on them at every moment under this idea we are keeping them “safe” is actually doing more harm than people realize |

Big fenced yard, yes. Dog? No.
I’d let a responsible 8yo play with a dog alone. |
| I’d be on the porch watching. He may fall and need some help or hit his head. Anything can happen. |
| Yes of course! |
| Do people really not send their 6 years olds outside in a fenced yard alone? |
But that's true if he's in the other room. It's also true of adults and we manage be by ourselves sometimes. There are risks to oversupervision as well. |
| No |
That is not a common scenario. We let our 6yo in the front yard alone. |
