Farmer’s market eggs taste no different from grocery store eggs?

The "rich" yolk color is easily changeable by putting an additive in their food. You're being duped.

DP. Oh really? What about the thick whites? Is that also being duped by an additive? The yolks are not just about the color, btw. They are fat and plump not the little yellow balls in generic eggs.

Yes, diet and additives alter that pretty easily. Does not mean they're healthier or superior.

I taste a big difference between store brands alone so people with no taste buds saying all eggs taste the same are dead wrong. That said, it's possible that farmer's eggs don't taste any different to what you usually buy.

I can see a difference in pasture raised organic eggs from a farmer's market where the chickens just squirted them out earlier in the week, compared to grocery store eggs. They are brighter. But I can't taste a difference.

I grew up having chickens. There is a huge difference in free range eggs and those from Walmart. GTFOH

There is a huge range in the quality of "farmers market eggs".

There is an even bigger range in the quality of "grocery store eggs" - some are horrible, some are pretty darned good.

There is overlap in those ranges.

If you are comparing a decent/not-great farmers market vendor's eggs to the top end of grocery store options, you may not notice a difference. But compare any of them to the cheapest Walmart eggs, and the difference is night and day.

I'm surprised by the folks who say there is no difference in the taste of farmer's market and grocery store eggs. Try a side-by-side taste test of hard boiled eggs. You can definitely taste a difference. I don't taste a difference in baked items, so, maybe that is where people are coming from.

They look different but don’t taste any different from the grocery store eggs that I buy. I think it’s just a thing some people like to make part of their identity.

If it's the same pellet food or worse then it's no different

Its slight but I can definitely tell a difference between taste and texture....they cook up less "rubbery". Small-farm fresh are def the best.

Nope. We make scrambled eggs with nothing but salted butter in the pan every morning. Can't tell the difference.

Also agree can't taste difference. I do only get the standard organic free range from WF so that's the comparison point with farmer's eggs. Even my cousin in NH who has her own chickens concedes there's no difference in taste from what she can buy at the supermarket.

I have had some wonderful eggs in France, however, that really did stand out.

Agree - if you actually get farm fresh eggs. They also look different. The yolks are much darker.

Maybe that's all he can afford

If he can't afford to buy eggs he could just stop buying eggs.
