The more hours worked, the lower the hourly gets.
Also, there are a lot of other factors? Does she get paid when the family is on vacation (this can really add up)? Do they provide a transit pass? Is it on the books? If so, families often cover all taxes, which adds up. |

Agree that there’s a difference between a babysitter and a nanny. Nannies with experience are getting $25/hr, and if they have higher qualifications (degree in early childhood education, Montessori certified, etc) they’re getting $35-45. However, for a young college grad without full time childcare experience and looking for a short term gig, I would think $20/hr is about right. I’d increase to $23-25/hr since they’re twins. |
