Taking kids out of school for vacation

Just NO. There are other threads on this absenteeism. It’s too much since Covid days. Keep your kid in school. Use the numerous holidays and teacher workdays for a short trip. Use the extensive winter and spring break for a long trip. Use the summer months for a trip.

One trip is ok - but two within a month of each other? Excessive and too much work on many ends -for the teacher to catch your child up and for your child to make up the work and for you to help your child with the work.

Depending on where you are going, I would not hesitate to take kid out twice for great experiences. They can get caught up pretty easily in 2nd grade.

If she misses an assessment, that is a 0 with no make up on top of missed class work and independent work. Her grade would suffer. I am not required nor would I have the time to teach your child a weeks worth of lessons one on one.

It's 2nd grade. Who cares if some 0s lower her grade?

Do grades really matter in 2nd? I mean there are no life long complications for bad grades in second. My parents took my out of school for most of second and I almost failed. They begged the school to let me go to third and they did. I did not do extra tutoring and all was well. Passed third and now have a PH.D.
