Having met some of my coworkers in person, I may actually have more enthusiasm for some pixels

I'm in a similar boat.

44. Been in my job 23 years. I’m so done. I want to leave but I can’t give up my pension. I still do my job and do it well but I’m not happy at all.
Allllll my friends in this age bracket feel the same regardless of line of work. We play lotto now.

45. I am over all of it. I have my own practice and DGAF. Sadly, I still need money so I guess I'll be plugging away a few more years.

I will NEVER return to an office. If you need interactions with humans, please find it outside of work.

When, exactly? I work from 7 am to 5 pm, then cook dinner, clean, and gets kids to bed. Where exactly do I find this magical time to interact with humans, you freaking sociopath? Glad you're trapped alone at home.

Goodness, yes.

I've just started HRT. Hoping it might help, but it has been a month and I don't think it has.

No. I like my coworkers; they are amazing.

Anyone change careers and find it helped?

Agreed. Work is literally a punishment given to humans upon leaving the Garden of Eden.

No. Quite the opposite. I was done having. Kids at 30 though. I feel like I’m just really hitting my stride

In my head on some level there's a sort of low level dread and panic about how I'm spending my time. And a tiny voice screaming 'we are all going to die! I don't care about your linkedin engagement rate!'
anyone else?

I feel this so much, OP!

Not so much here. I work for a mission-oriented enterprise and I admire the mission. Gives it a reason to keep doing a good job.

It was my later 40's. I worked had to make a specialty change in my organization. Then I got my first position in the new specialty and the work unit was disorganized and there was no real orientation/support and not a lot of work. I just kind of lost my drive.

I'm currently in a soft skills job, which plays to my natural strengths. I'm busy but it's not hugely challenging. I will downshift to something else/part time in a few years.
