Not very diverse, especially downtown near restaurants. I would look in upper NW.

Upper northwest is diverse??

Pretty sure it’s less ethnically diverse than Bethesda.

Silver spring 20910. Very diverse, nice downtown with great restaurant variety, 15 minutes to downtown Bethesda with no traffic. You should be able to find a pretty nice place with your budget.

20852 North Bethesda/Rockville

I live in the west side of Rockville, and there are nice homes, good neighborhoods, and schools here

I'd look at Kensington or Garrett Park. Bethesda adjacent, and easy MARC or Metro into DC when needed.

This would be one of my first choices.

And I know all about Bethesda.

There is a lot of jealousy on this thread.

I promote 20910 a lot, but OP wants a two-car garage. She would need to be patient until a new build comes on the market, since that's a rare commodity in the neighborhood.

This is changing. Also there are a ton of internationals. Will you be in downtown Bethesda? If so look in that zip, 20814, and you can walk to work.

No. Traffic is horrible. It is 15 min with no traffic and can be 45 with traffic.

Second downtown Silver Spring and surrounding areas

I would just do Friendship Heights. It's not that diverse, but more so than Bethesda. And it's a quick metro ride or 5 minute car trip to Bethesda, depending on where you're going. There are decent restaurants in Palisades, CCDC, etc and FH should have more within a few years - the Junction is good for coffee/ casual food and a Trader Joes is coming soon. And you can walk to Whole Foods. The housing stock seems to be cheaper there than in adjacent neighborhoods.

That’s exactly what a striver from Bethesda would think. That’s why I chose not to buy in west MoCo.
