Mystery email

Anonymous
I used to be the only person in the world with my name and then someone got married and also took her husband’s spanish last name. She used her middle initial in her email and now I occasionally get an email of hers. It’s JaneADoe@ vs JaneDoe@ and is an easy mistake for someone typing in an email to make.

No. This is not actually true.

Dots don’t matter in gmail email addresses:

Oh wow! I have been receiving emails for someone with my same email address but with a dot. So mine is janesmith@gmail and her’s is Jane.smith@ gmail. Always wondered why it came to me. But if dots don’t matter, then how did that other person get her Jane.smith user name, shouldn’t gmail have alerted that it’s already in use?

Pp again. I see it says Google wouldn’t allow to create a dotted version of same user name. So I guess she may have a dotted version with another provider and somewhere made a mistake with the domain.

NP. It’s either spam or someone is just making a mistake when they type the address. I have a gmail account with a dot, and I still receive emails from people who forget to put the dot in.
