How long do I have? It is a 12 hour drive.

You have time.

I would go and hold her hand for as long as she has left. No question.

My dad was due for dialysis m, w, f. He decided not to go one one and passed Friday AM at 2am.

I would go now if you can and if you want to be there at the end.

Fair warning that there is a fluid build up. We gave my dad a ton of morphine via hospice. It was not super duper peaceful from a bodily function perspective but I'm so glad I was there and am very much at peace with it.

Love to you.

Can the caretaker set up a zoom call on an ipad so you can speak to her?

Honestly, I'm in the camp of respecting the wishes of someone who is in pain not to be watched while they die.

My mom helped her mom for two days in an apartment with a hospice nurse. It was agonizing.

If you read some other threads you will see some corroboration that many people wait until their lived ones step away to actually die. My FIL did that.

For myself, I'd like people to remember me in happy times.

You seem like you have things you want to say that you didn't get a chance to say. A zoom call might handle that for you.
