Stuck between RMIB and PHS SMCS

The worst part of RMIB is ib. Completely useless program.

I however drove my kid to school and back though, so commute was not that much of an issue.

The only thing that I did not like about phs was the building but that has changed now.

I have two kids at phs, yes the old building is abysmal…but that will soon change.
Not all of the students and parents are kind and collaborative at phs, it’s just something people have been brainwashed into believing when the majority keeps telling them that. Don’t fall for the hype.
There is bullying, drug use, a student was arrested yesterday at phs per the principals email to the parents, and there is rampant cheating.

This is completely not our experience at RMIB. It really depends upon the friends your child makes. We have a junior there. We do not live in Bethesda.
If you have a kid who likes to procrastinate, RMIB is going to be tough.

+1 don't know what a "Bethesda" type is; I live in Rockville. Several kids were from Clarksburg/Germantown.

Someone on here really really hate RMIB. Not exactly sure why.

yea, that's why there are like 1000 super smart kids applying every year. They are too smart to realize how useless IB is.

I don't think all RMIB parents are like this but IME it does lean in that direction. There are a few we know who are really cut throat competitive and their kids are that way too, backstabbing other students and putting them down to others. But most kids are not like that.

I don't hate RMIB and am not that PP. I recommended OP go to RMIB due to the commute but I do think there's a smidgen of truth to the parent comment. The one mom I'm thinking of who is loathesome and so is her child is actually from Rockville.

I'd go with the easier commute.

shorter commute for sure - these kids are exhausted and need every minute they can get

I mean sure, there are crap parents/kids in all schools and programs. There are several of these parents at RM not in IB. I live in the RM cluster, and we've known them since ES. But, we've also known some really great parents and kids, some in RMIB and some not in IB.
