Parking at Dulles

Anonymous
Agree with reservations for a family trip like this if you have a lot of stuff to schlep. However as a skiing family and frequent flyer, my #1 advice is find a family member, close friend or amazing neighbor to take you. If you live too far from Dulles then #2 advice is as a PP said - spouse drops you off with the kids and a lot of stuff, you check in bags while other person parks car.

Dulles precheck with clear is generally a mess these days so I / we often go to the regular lines and it’s faster. You walk the same distance regardless to get to the gates.

Also: the bags will take at least 30 mins after you land, esp for oversized luggage/skis. As a frequent flyer I can attest it doesn’t matter if you have status, bags still take 30 mins from landing to coming out the baggage belt. Maybe 45 for skis.

What I’ve done in the reverse when we land is husband gets the car while I wrangle kids. When he pulls up - which is always before the bags come out, I walk kids out with our carry ons then switch off idling / circling in the car. He waits for and then schleps out the big bags.

Frequent traveler here. Garage 2 is fastest, if you don't mind the walk. You're on Delta so you don't have the walk the terminal length also, like I usually do (United).

The benefit of Garage 1 is there's a lot of moving walkways, and also it's nearly entirely indoors which can be a consideration if you're comign back late and it's cold.

Garage 2 takes more legwork, but will be a little faster. I usually go with 1 with family, and 2 if I'm solo.

There are many hotels around Dulles (not even high-end ones) were you can stay the night before your flight and book in to leave your car in the parking lot during your trip.

nope, could have looked at a map. Pretty clear OP did not even try to figure this out. If OP had there would have been more pacific questions to answer.

But then she still has to get on a shuttle with all the crap. Doesn’t solve the issue.

If you’re so not interested and/or bothered by OP’s request, wouldn’t it be easier to keep scrolling, then come to the thread and make multiple, mean-spirited comments?
