Manchin, Collins and Murkowski trolling with a Roe V Wade bill. For real.

Guttmacher’s national total for abortions in 2020 was 930,160, a 1.5% increase from 916,460 in 2019.

That’s not counting otc plan B abortions.

From 2020 to 2021, the number of abortions increased 5%, the abortion rate increased 5%, and the abortion ratio increased 4%.

Who wants to carry a pregnancy in an abortion ban state where maternal care is degraded? Of course more women are choosing not to do that. It's dangerous you anti abortion idiots.

What a ridiculous thought, OP! Just because a Senator is not running for office doesn't mean that he/she no longer has issues they care about. They aren't dead AND they are still in office and they should be speaking up about the travesty of the misogynistic Supreme Court and Trump's GOP.
because Manchin voted against this in 2022...not even 2 years ago

because they voted against lifting the filibuster hold that would have codified it pre Dobbs. Now they will need 60 votes, and there just won't be anywhere close to that from the right.

Yes, but it forces all of the GOP Senators to be on the record that the voted against the bill. With elections in November, this is going to be a costly bill for the GOP to respond to. In every election since RvW was overturned, there has been record turnout and record voting against abortion restrictions. If GOP Senators have to go on record vetoing an abortion rights bill, you can bet that every one of them standing for reelection are going to have this become a major election issue for their opponents. And the record is not good for any candidate that rejects abortion rights. Even soundly right states like Kansas, Ohio, and Kentucky have voted for abortion rights and candidates that had to oppose abortion rights lost in those elections. Same in purple Virginia. In fact, the vote in Virginia essentially sunk Glenn Youngkin's explorations into a potential presidential run.

In general the American public is 58-62% behind abortion rights depending on how conservative the area is. But solidly pro-choice. And when candidates have to defend a anti-choice position, they lose.

I forgot to add, but the bill may be hopeless, but this is a good move to help return control of both Chambers of Congress blue. Even if Trump were somehow miraculously to win the election, he would be hampered by having both chambers controlled by the Democrats.

Authoritarians don't care about petty congresses.

Dobbs doesn't ban abortions. It just bans legal, clean and safe abortions where states so choose.

What are the numbers now? These numbers don’t matter, as Dobbs was 2022.

Not shocked that a few more women did not choose to carry a pregnancy during the height of the pandemic which was particularly dangerous for pregnant women.

Looks like Manchin might be positioning to be the No Label candidate. I don't see him, Collins and Murkoski wanting to put any GOP in an uncomfortable position. And Joe and Susan aren't supporters of women.

Of course they are. What a stupid statement.

PP here. Neither has supported pro-women policies not to mention their votes for SCOTUS appointees who we all knew were going to overturn Roe.

And if Manchin is going to pull more third party crap when a nationwide ban is on the table? He doesn’t give a crap about women, he’s just trash.
