Energy drinks

Anonymous
My 13 and 14 year old DDs kept asking me to buy them so I told them they needed to ask the doctor about them at their annual physical.

The doctor said she didn’t think anything with more caffeine in it than a cup of coffee was a good idea.

OP here- thats how I feel. But I was talking to a mom whose 4th grade son plays hockey. Has early morning practices and sometimes late evening practices too. I asked her how does she get him to wake up at 5 and how is he able to even practice. She said she gives him prime energy drinks on the way there to ‘wake’ him up and to make sure he was alert. I was horrified. But then we don’t do crazy sports schedule so what do I know..

What?!? My kids and I ride horses and we are up super early for shows all the time. I have never given them any sort of an energy drink and never would, and they need to be alert when they're getting on fresh ponies and it's chilly out!

FWIW, OP, Prime has both caffeinated and non-caffeinated versions, the latter of which is just like Gatorade. So it may or may not really be an "energy" drink.

I personally wouldn't let my kid have either first thing in the morning, but whatever....

I remember watching Toddlers and Beauty Pageants or whatever it was called and the mothers would give the three year olds sugar sticks and caffeine drinks.

Anything to win a trophy.

Nope it was the energy drink she was referring to and not the prime hydration drink.

No way. But I guess there are some parents who allow it, because our school (K-8) had to specifically ban energy drinks from campus this year.
