Op here- I looked these up. I wouldn’t have thought of this look but I’m somewhat intrigued. Thanks!

We have both and everyone fights to get the ones with the back.

Backs. Backless is so uncomfortable.

Backs with the small back. Ours get used daily by us and kids and when we have guests over. The backless stools are more for decoration.

No! Will look filthy all the time unless they go unused, you don't have kids, or you are a unicorn family.

We got the ones from CB2 when my kids were 2 and 4 (now 5 and 7). Not filthy, sometimes they have fingerprints but it’s not that noticeable. And I think we are a pretty normal family, so not a unicorn. They kind of blend in to our white island. I completely understand that they aren’t the look for everyone, but I wouldn’t let fear of looking dirty deter someone. They’re easier to wipe down than any upholstered chairs/seats, and they have held up better than our painted wooden chairs (which have started losing color at the edges). I’ve found them pretty practical, really.

We have a bar height dining table with low-back chairs. The backs are low enough that the chairs slide right under the table.
