+1 It’s become an even harder admit. |
| If the choice was Villanova or UVA - OOS, which is better? |
Nova |
UVA oos but UVA outstate has a 15 percent acceptance rate. |
I mean shit Nova ain't much higher. |
| Catholic High Schools will send 5+ students each year. It’s a safety for those who would prefer BC and don’t have the grades and scores to apply to Georgetown and ND. Nice campus. Little to do in the immediate area but close enough to Philly. When you visit, count how many kids Are Not wearing Nova gear (it’s a little weird!) |
| Your son is a total nerd who gets beat up in the locker room if he’s never heard of Villanova. |
My kis’s Catholic hs sends closer to 1 every 5 years last time I checked naviance. It’s harder to get into than you think. |
UVA ranked in the 20s. V ranked in the 50s. So there’s that. |
|
Nova is 70% white
6% Asian 5% black Very few Jews It’s night and day from Penn There isn’t much if any overlap with Penn Nova isn’t really a safety even for high stats kids - they are very good at knowing who fits in on campus and op’s kid isn’t it |
One thing to keep in mind is that in the application process, Villanova is a direct admit, unlike UVA. |
Nova ain't a safety for no one. |
Villanova is also Catholic |
It’s likely that your Catholic HS doesn’t have a relationship with Villanova then. There are HS’s that will send multiple to BC, Villanova, several to Fairfield and a handful to Georgetown and ND. Every Single. Year. |
