and isn't it sad that not every place in the US is gay-friendly? |
Your response is complete buffoonery. Why don't you go swipe some profiles and leave the college talk to the grown ups. |

Which other schools is he waiting to hear from?
For the record, I think Purdue is a great opportunity! |
Purdue is excellent in engineering. |
|
If he is thinking he might go on to a PhD later this is good info. Only Mines and Purdue are on this list. It speaks about how prepared graduates are for advanced edu perhaps.

Yes, Mines is very open about stuff like that. |
Spoken like a truly nerdy mom of a truly nerdy kid! All joking aside, OP, a good friend of mine went to Mines. We teased him all 4 years about being at the School of Mimes but he loved it and is a very successful person in a career he loves (and he was one of the few he went to school with that had a sense of humor to pull it all off!) |
I’m the OP and definitely not a nerd and neither is my son. He’s smart, athletic and confident. He’s not threatened by the imbalanced ratio although I can see how others would be. |
|
OP, my DS strongly considered Mines a couple of years ago. He ended up turning them down to go to another school. He is happy at his school.
I loved Mines and our visit there. I joined a "Colorado School of Mines Parents" facebook page. It was administered by the University. There were other families from the DMV area. I remember talking to moms from Fairfax and Arlington. I was genuinely a little sad when our son decided on his school (even though I am am very happy with his choice). The moms I interacted with seemed great. Look for that Facebook group! |
Mines obviously offers a very different campus experience than the other three you've listed. If he's looking for rah rah in a beautiful location with a great aerospace program, CU-Boulder is the obvious answer. I'm surprised that's not on the list. Regardless, he has strong options. |
