Yes, please share more. I also weight lift, but need help shedding the fat. And yes, I know diet plays a major role as well. |
Congrats on all these successes!!

Congrats to all!
I’m not weighing myself but tracking measurements (waist, hip, etc). I have been trying something new for the last month - doing slightly LESS exercise, because I think I was overdoing it, and eating about the same number of calories a day, which is not particularly low (1600), just with more protein. So far I have lost 2 inches from my waist and a bit less from my hips, and I’m very happy about it! |
I have been keeping up with my training program to prepare for a half marathon in the spring, as well as making it to the gym. I can feel my cardio improving. |
I started lifting weights a few years ago at 40 and LOVE it. I feel strong and youthful in my body. Can bound up and down stairs, run, jump, play basketball, rollerblade, skate. I haven’t lost any weight but I like the way my body looks. And especially how it feels to live in it. I wish I’d taken up strength and stability training years ago. |
OP here. I'm in my early 60s and started taking up strength training about 6 months ago. I also love it, which surprises me because I dislike most exercise. Like you, I feel stronger and more youthful and can bound up stairs (kudos on the running, jumping basketball rollerblading and skating!) and just have way more energy than before. It really is transformative and I also wish I had started it years ago. |
Thanks for bumping OP!
I posted earlier, but I have a new (small) win! I started using my exercise spin bike a bit more, and I feel a real difference in my cardio. Much less fatigue walking up flights of stairs, etc. DH has been doing heavy workouts and does treadmill in between sets and used to be really out of breath. After incorporating the bike he finds the rest of his workouts much easier. |
I have the same, did you start with diastasis focused exercises first? Anyone have vids to recommend? I noticed hiking that my core is very weak and I really want to target it. So important for balance as we age. Congrats to all on making changes! |
I am 40 and decided in Jan that I am finally going to make a real effort at losing baby/COVID weight (it’s been a few years!). I have always exercised consistently but stopped eating garbage.
I’m down 10 pounds and have 25-30 to go. I am not yet down a size but clothes are fitting better. I’m really hopeful that this will be the time that it sticks. |
I'm a mid 40s woman who worked up to doing a pullup! Working on being able to do two in a row!!! |
