Drive the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway from New Orleans to Mandeville. It is 24 miles long. Mandeville is a nice town. Enjoy lunch or dinner in Mandeville.

NP- never knew that. This is good information for someone who researches a lot and has been to NOLA and cafe du monde a half dozen times. My DH always carries cash so was not a prob. May not be the case for everyone.

Visit the WWII Museum. Truly amazing—expensive but we spent hours there.

Mardi Gras World was also fun. And the swamp tour was cool. Our guide was hilarious at Cajun Pride.

Agree with staying in the Garden District. Lots to do and it feels the safest. I would not stay in the French Quarter or along Canal St.

French quarter felt safe when I was just there but it will be loud at night.
